Where Wisdom in Recovery Begins

Wisdom in recovery begins when we come to realize the love God has for us and are able to confidently find rest and peace. I know the truth of this reality. Such true understanding had to come by my own overwhelming awareness of His greatness, holiness, and power as they contrasted with my own sinful and carnal nature. There was nothing more fear-inducing than this. It is where I needed to begin. It is where healing and restoration of my mind, heart, and soul had to begin.

Rigorous Honesty in Recovery is Painful

There is an awakening that occurs in the heart and minds of every person who is suffering and perishing. Those who awaken to their awful condition and state of being see the destruction for what it really is. We see ourselves as unclean. Filthy. And, a great burden is on our back that weighs us down. As much as we do not want to face this truth – we must face it or continue to suffer and perish. This is where we find Christian. Faced with the reality of a coming destruction. The reality of the burden we bear.

Value of Spiritual Growth

The Gospel of Jesus Christ demands that I focus my attention toward healing and restoring my soul. Not toward analyzing another. For, when I look to another and ask how they are able to justify their behavior - I am walking in a spirit of condemnation. Another individual's life and behavior does not help me focus on my own struggles and difficulties.

Does a 12-step based recovery program work?

There appears to be some aversion to attending, participating in, and following the 12-steps of sober support meetings. The underlying question: does a 12-step program help people achieve sobriety? He Strengthens Us in Our Sufferings

When we trust in our own strength, understanding, and will to make it through our suffering - we may inevitably become lost, hurt, betrayed, bitter, and resentful. This leads to us being separated from God's divine love and grace. Through the Gift of Faith that is offered through Jesus Christ, accepting this offer, we need to put aside our own will and desire. Surrendering to God's will and trusting in Him to strengthen us and walk with us through our struggles is where we find peace that surpasses all understanding.

Many sides made whole in Christ

For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit. ~ 1 Corinthians 12:12-13, ESV ~ The greatest… Continue reading Many sides made whole in Christ

Deep Inner Work is the Heart of Christian based Recovery

Where it all begins One of the most beautiful passages of scripture is that of John 3:18-21. Jesus is conversing with Nicodemus. In this conversation, we are intimately taught that Christ is the light that has come into the world. Yet, many of us rather remain in the darkness, avoiding the light. Because we remain… Continue reading Deep Inner Work is the Heart of Christian based Recovery
