Our Testimony is the armor of God the Apostle Paul references in Ephesians 6:11-17 (See also, D&C 27:15-18). And it is vital to our faith, our progress toward maturing in our faith, and going forward with meaning and purpose.

Day 6 – Our Purpose is to Trust God
Our call to go forward with faith and purpose in the new year is meant for us to examine ourselves and determine whether or not we truly place full confidence in who Christ is, in the teachings of the pure doctrines of Christ, and trust in those personal revelations he has given us. Trust in Christ means we go forward with faith, despite any doubts we may have. Despite our perceived inadequacies. For if we go forward in faith, with purpose, we are blessed to accomplish those things we are called to accomplish. For if we go forward in faith, with purpose, we are able to do the things our Heavenly Father has commanded us to do.
Getting My Grief Unstuck
The solution in getting unstuck from our grief is attending meetings, seeing a counselor, and giving ourselves permission to let go. The willingness to allow ourselves to be vulnerable lessens our need to resist and lower those defenses. It is difficult in the beginning. And when we willingly allow ourselves to be vulnerable, keep ourselves in a community and fellowship of others, we begin to grow in trust with God, ourselves, and others around us.
When I do not feel much support
Often times I feel like I am not receiving what I desire from others because I am not willing to allow myself to be open enough to receiving. It's as if I have a little shop set up for people to come in and yet maintain locked doors.
Spiritual Impact and Influence
Today, many individuals face problems where there is no easy solutions. Yet, we must face those challenges. A person needs clear vision and pure intentions to lead themselves into a place where they have a significant spiritual impact and influence on those around them. Daniel writes: And they that be wise shall shine as the… Continue reading Spiritual Impact and Influence

Facing dark days
There are those oft days of light and happiness that dispel the sadness. Yet, they are fleeting. As fleeting as the summer days we've so far experienced here for June. Inevitably, the rain comes, the darkness swells, and the days grow gloomy and despondent. We either allow ourselves to sink deeper and withdraw further into our suffocating sadness; or, we do the courageous and difficult task of pulling ourselves out of despair by focusing on the hope and light of God's love, mercy, and grace.
Being a Christian Neighbor
If we view our lives as being too busy to concern ourselves with the welfare and well-being of those around us, we miss out on an opportunity to be a light in their lives.
On Being an Encouraging Person
We show kindness toward others. After all, isn't this what Jesus taught us to do? Show kindness and mercy to others? Is not what his teachings centered on - showing mercy, grace, kindness, and love toward others? How many more souls are we to save and add to the way when we show the same level of compassion, kindness, grace, and mercy toward others who are downtrodden, hopeless, and crumbling faith?
Being a comfort to others
Recovery is a dark journey for most of us. Through our faith in Jesus Christ, we come to full knowledge of His light, love, and truth. Do we forsake others struggling in their own darkness and journey? God forbid. This is the heart and foundation of recovery support groups.
Courage in Times of Change
Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Fellowship and sharing words of hope
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another... ~ Hebrews 10:24-25 ~ We begin to learn the fellowship aspect of recovery. Coming together with other individuals, sharing our stories becomes a contagion of hope. Hope… Continue reading Fellowship and sharing words of hope
The Courage to Live Boldly
for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. ~ 2 Timothy 1:7, ESV ~ My favorite Wizard of Oz character is the cowardly lion. We typically do not associate a lion with fear and cowardliness. Yet, he meets Dorothy, Tin Man and Strawman. Together, they are heading toward the… Continue reading The Courage to Live Boldly

His heart is steady, he will not be afraid, until he looks in triumph on his adversaries ~ Psalms 112: 7-8, ESV ~ Recovery teaches us to live courageously in a troubled world. We are living in a fear-based world.… Continue reading Assurance in Troubled Times
We face difficulty along our path
It begins with understanding who we are
Hungering and Thirsting after Sobriety
Addiction is an appetite of desire. It's powerful grip holds the individual captive. Our most inner drive moves us to hunger and thirst after alcohol and/or drugs. The greater our hunger and thirst, the deeper we sink into the abyss. In order to recover from this hold our addiction has on us, we must begin… Continue reading Hungering and Thirsting after Sobriety

Stand a little taller in recovery
Growing up in the Mormon faith, one of my favorite hymns were Put your shoulder to the wheel. Not quite a typical hymnal of worship. However, it held specific meaning in a way that helped shape my understanding of life. The hymn was written during the migration of the Mormon Pioneers as the author took thought in… Continue reading Stand a little taller in recovery
