Understand the Nature of the Garden of Eden

And I, the Lord God, planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there I put the man whom I had formed.

~Genesis 3:8, Moses 3:8, and Abraham 5:8 ~

And he knew that the Garden of Eden is the holy of holies, and the dwelling of the Lord, and Mount Sinai the centre of the desert, and Mount Zion -the centre of the navel of the earth: these three were created as holy places facing each other.

In Word: Oh, what splendor the Garden of Eden must have held in the eyes of Adam and Eve. A paradise where peace, harmony, and unity appeared to be prominent. Here, the scripture reveals the intimate relationship Adam and Eve had with our Heavenly Father. Nothing was lacking. Both were innocent and without any blemish of sin. The Garden of Eden may very well be the dwelling place of God. A place of reverence, holiness, and righteousness. A place where man comes to find peace and tranquility before our Heavenly Father. It is here, in a place of holiness and perfect righteousness that humanity first lived. The Garden of Eden is symbolic to the Holy of Holies in the Ancient Temple of Israel. It is the Celestial Kingdom of God. Our Savior pointed to the nature and splendor of the Kingdom of Heaven when he said …Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand (Matthew 4:17). The Gospel of Jesus Christ is central to the Kingdom of Heaven – it is the plan of salvation (Matthew 4:23 and 9:35). It is this kingdom that the poor, the persecuted, those who suffer for the sake of righteousness (Matthew 5:1-2) shall inherit.

In Deed: Christ expresses the nature and innocence of little children. Such humility, trust in our Heavenly Father, and willingness to walk in obedience to the principal truths, ordinances, and commandments of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is what brings us into the kingdom of heaven. This requires our due diligence in making necessary sacrifices that places our self-interests below those interests and purposes of God. As we seek after the Kingdom of Heaven – seek after the righteousness of God, we do so through love of our Heavenly Father and love toward others. The Savior expresses that these two teachings are the main commandments: Love God and love others (Mark 12:28-31). It is the call to allow our Heavenly Father to rule in our hearts, in our homes, in our workplaces, and in our communities. This is accomplished when we engage in charity and love as Christ loves. Minister as Christ has ministered. To bring hope and salvation to all who are suffering and seeking purpose and meaning in this life (1 John 4:8).

Take a Moment and Ponder: The Garden of Eden has significant symbolism that is applicable in our lives today. We have the responsibility to bring the Kingdom of Heaven within reach by walking in humility and obedience to the principles of the Gospel. Is there no harmony or unity in your life currently? Do you no longer have peace of mind? What is missing in your present life? In your home? In your relationship? It all begins by understanding the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Understand who Christ is. Walk in ministry as he walked in serving and ministering to others. Relying up on our Heavenly Father in all things and all ways. Seeking after His righteousness and Kingdom. To this end, we will be able to enter that paradisiacal glory of His Kingdom that he has prepared for us. The call is for us to repent and come unto Christ and follow Him.
