He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.
~ Proverbs 10:17, KJV ~
Wise mentors teach others the importance of discipline through actions. Disciplined mentors understand that God doesn’t reward laziness or misbehavior. What God expects is His people to lead lives that are above reproach. And, He punishes those who walk in disobedience to the commandments.

He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough.
~ Proverbs 28:19, KJV ~
As we consistently and diligently labor in our lives, the expectation is for us to reap a bountiful harvest. However, we do not expect the harvest to precede the labor needed to cultivate our reward. This requires discipline and obedience; then, we will reap the divine blessings God has promised all of us.
In recovery, mentors are important to help us cultivate a lifestyle that is disciplined. Do you want to live in sobriety? Then cultivate a healthy lifestyle that moves you away from your addictions and insanity. Do not be afraid of correction and reproof.
~ Today’s Prayer and Meditation ~
Heavenly Father, I accept your wisdom and correction in my life as you show me the way to live. Through the study of your word, self-examination, and correction, I labor with your Spirit to cultivate a healthy and vibrant spiritual life. Work through me and with me as I labor to walk in obedience to your counsel and commandments.
