Encourage One Another

Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
~ 1 Thessalonians 5:11, KJV ~

When we encourage one another – we build each other’s character and integrity
~ January 11, 2020 Devotional ~

We are called of God to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. We are called to reach out and say unto others what Christ has said to his disciples – “Come follow me”. And, if you believe that Christianity is not a religion, that it is a relationship with God, you also believe that we are in relationship with others and are called to encourage one another.

Many of us have personal experience where other’s have delighted in our misfortunes. Yet, how many of us have had people delight in our victories? Each day provides countless opportunities for us to delight in one another’s progress toward growth, maturation, and enduring our difficult times.

We encourage others because we want to also feel encouraged. When we give ourselves over to encourage one another, we are planting seeds of joy and walk in obedience to Christ’s way of living and ministering. Today, let us be cheerful and allow encouraging words spill from our lips. By blessing others, we also bless ourselves, and, at the same time, we honor Christ.

~Today’s Prayer and Meditation ~

Heavenly Father, help me celebrate and encourage others. Allow me to be the source of your love and genuine character where I encourage my family, my co-workers, those within my community. Let my words and deeds reflect the nature of Christ in the way I minister to others. Give me the strength to see past their suffering, and allow me to be the light of hope and faith that encourages them to overcome.
