Confidence in our Christian Faith

For thou art my hope, O Lord God: thou art my trust from my youth
~ Psalm 71:5, KJV ~

~ January 7, 2020 Devotional ~

Discouragement is a natural part of our existence. Even the most devout Christians are discouraged. We read about how many of God’s people face discouragement in the scriptures. However, we also see that God is a God of possibility. We see how many of those people have overcome their discouragement through faith in God. We know God sits on his throne. We know Christ is risen in glory. We are his disciples.

Are you confident in your Christian faith? Scripture tells us to rely on God’s wisdom and counsel. Another aspect of discouragement is fear. What is it that discourages us may be the things we fear. God’s sovereign grace is eternal and His promises are not ambiguous. Count your many blessings and not the adversities you face. Live courageously because God is the Giver of all good things. He watches over you today.

Through Christ, we are empowered and strengthened – not discouraged
~ Today’s Prayer and Meditation ~

Heavenly Father, I place my faith and confidence in you and not the things of this world. For, if I place my faith and confidence in the things of this world, I will face disappointment and discouragement. However, when I place my confidence in you, I know that I am secure in every aspect of my life. Father, help me place my hope and faith and my trust in your divine and infinite wisdom and experience your sovereign grace.
