Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water..
~ John 4:10, KJV ~
The Savior’s promise to that woman extends to all of our Heavenly Father’s children. By living the gospel of Jesus Christ, we develop within ourselves a living spring that will quench eternally our thirst for happiness, peace, and everlasting life. The Lord explains clearly in the Doctrine and Covenants that only faithful obedience can tap the well of living water that refreshes and enlivens our souls: “But unto him that keepeth my commandments I will give the mysteries of my kingdom, and the same shall be in him a well of living water, springing up unto everlasting life.” (see, Doctrine and Covenants 63:43).
Living Water to Quench Spiritual Thirst -Joseph B. Wirthlin Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
When we have come into faith and experience Christ’s infinite atonement, we begin to transform our lives through gratitude, mindfulness living, prayer, meditation, and spiritual disciplines. All these lead to many good consequences of our mighty change of heart (see Mosiah 5:2; Alma 5:14).
Through our faith, confidence, and courage, we are able to maintain our journey along the path of righteousness

Through Jesus Christ, we are able to depend on Him for spiritual guidance. Our sense of purpose and meaning becomes clear. Relationships begin to improve as we learn to truly love and serve others. Fear no longer holds us bound. Anxiety and depression is lifted (coupled with professional help when needed). Christ’s infinite atonement brings a sense of peace, happiness, and refreshes our minds and spirits every day. Yet, this is at a great cost for us.
To draw from the spring of living waters, we are required to walk in humble obedience to the principle truths, commandments, and teachings of Christ. We are ever tempted with misgivings, doubt, fear, judgment, and condemnation. Let us strive for confidence through our faith and trust in Christ. Through our faith, confidence, and courage, we are able to maintain our journey along the path of righteousness.
Make the most of Christ’s infinite atonement in your life. Regardless of there being many problems that still need to be resolved. Make an effort to live according to our Heavenly Father’s will, depend on Him to help you through your struggles. As the Apostle teaches – we are empowered to do all things through Christ (see, Philippians 4:13).
Today’s Prayer and Meditation
Heavenly Father, I pray to learn how to enjoy the good that each day brings because of my faith and Christ’s infinite atonement. I strive to not allow myself to feel apprehensive about the future as I know that what is to come is in God’s hands. Help me be mindful of what I need to do for today. In Jesus Name, Amen
