While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of the light
~ John 12:36, KJV ~

People are concerned about the social issues plaguing our society today. Many Christians are engaged in cultural wars. Offended that their faith and rights are being trampled on. Distrusting and disappointed. They proclaim the truth of God and Jesus Christ. Yet, ask yourself this: Am I being a light unto the world? It is cause to pause and think about what we are called to do.

We are to be an example of Christ’s grace and truth. An example of His compassion and love toward others. He did not appear to bother Himself with the concerns and social upheaval of his day. He spoke truth. He was gentle. He showed mercy and grace. His light exposed the darkness without a single word. He responded from that light and truth in speaking to those hearts who were darkened with self-righteous indignation.

The world needs more light. It needs more Christians to humble themselves and believe in the light so that they may become the light unto the world. Christ showed enduring love for us by being a willing sacrifice. He did this so that we may have eternal life. In turn, He asks that we love Him, worship Him, and praise Him. From this, we are to turn to share His message of salvation with our neighbors and with the world. Sometimes using words. As we engage in our service of ministering to the needs of those around us. Sharing with them the light of Christ, Our Heavenly Father will bless us beyond measure.

~ Today’s Prayer and Meditation ~

Heavenly Father, you are the only way to eternal life, through your Son, Jesus Christ. Through Christ, I am the light set up on a hill. As I follow you, walk in your teachings, living the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, let your message of hope and salvation be a light unto those in a darkening world. Let me be a worthy example. A lighthouse that guides people to your grace. In Jesus Christ, Amen!
