Today’s reading: Genesis 23 – 24:67; Ps. 7-1-5; Prov. 3:7-8; Matt. 9:1-17
I did not come to call the righteous but sinners to Follow Me
A simple and poignant command. Follow Me! Throughout scripture, we read how God has called people out to follow Him. To enter into an intimate relationship with Him. God is still calling out people every day to follow Him. This requires that we abandon our old life, old ways, beliefs, and attitudes.
When we come to follow Christ, enter into an intimate and personal relationship, we seek Him through prayer and meditation. Our relationship strengthens and deepens as we learn to trust in Him and his divine will for our lives. We discover ways God answers our prayers. We learn the value of who we are in Christ and the importance of walking daily with God.
Through our relationship, we are renewed, refreshed, and inspired to follow Christ. Not through religious ceremony or piety. Our worship and devotion comes from a new heart where we have genuine faith and worship God in spirit and truth. Because of our response to His call, we are brought into the shelter of His divine grace and love.
