Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
~ John 14:27, ESV ~
There is no doubt that life in society today is filled with anxiety, stress, and worry. There is uncertainty we all face. No one knows uncertainty than those of us in recovery. We are deeply and intimately aware of our own uncertainties. Our concern over what may befall us compels us to shrink away from our engagement in the recovery process. Changes threaten the way of how we are accustomed to living life. Because of this, we fall prey to anxiety and panic.
There may be underlying physiological reasons for our anxieties and worry. This may be due to those chemical imbalances where we experience emotional distress. The gift of modern medicine and holistic approach helps us. However, there are spiritual deficits that induce our anxieties. This happens when we are spiritually drained. The prescription to address our spiritual deficit is found within our very soul. Our prescription calls for a daily dose of God’s love, God’s peace, God’s assurance, and God’s presence.
How do we acquire this from our divine and sovereign Heavenly Father? It is through our commitment to daily prayer. Through our acts of worship. Through our faith and trust in Him and our willingness to surrender our life and will over to His care.
