If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
~ James 1:5, ESV ~
We grow and assimilate into a recovery lifestyle where everyday life is an exercise in managing change. This change involves relationships being repaired and restored. Our bodies are changing back to a healthy state. Even how we address and manage circumstances in our lives change. What does not change is our continual need and dependence upon God. He does not change. He is eternal. His truths are eternal. His word is eternal.
The dangerous aspect of recovery is complacency. The path toward a relapse starts when we become complacent in our daily recovery. Inevitably, we face something that brings us to a state where our course is needing correction. Upon facing this dilemma, we come back to surrendering our will and life over to God. This is where our security rests. It is where the bedrock and foundation of our faith resides. In an Eternal and Sovereign God.
Sometimes, we experience a moment that shakes us out of our complacency. Something that brings us out of a routine. It is a natural part of the recovery process to be shaken well in order for us to continue to grow, stretch, and improve the quality of our own lives.
