In the Footsteps of the Master

If anyone serves , he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.

~ John 12:26, ESV ~

We are set free from the bondage and enslavement substance use has brought upon us because we follow in the footsteps of our Master. His promise is sound when he says that He will never forsake us (see Deuteronomy 31:6). The Disciples followed the Messiah every where. They learned from him, asked questions, were confounded and amazed by his teaching. Eventually, they were commissioned to go as His representatives.

Each day, we make a decision to walk one of two paths. For the first path of recovery is to walk the path our Master has called us to traverse. Narrow and strait. The second path is what had brought us to a place of desolation and decay. It is wide.

Our daily walk with Christ is our cultivation of learning to listen to His guiding counsel, receive personal inspiration and revelation, and strength and confidence to face our own challenges.

It is by following in the footsteps of our Master that we are capable of learning how to continue to live freely and lightly (see Matthew 11:28-30).
